Camden Simon
Cyclist | Design Engineer | Former Sailing Coach | Wood Worker | Lighting Designer | technical Director
Camden Simon is now an avid cyclist, though he started out in a different realm. Throughout his collegiate experience he raced for the University of Tennessee sailing team. It was after college that he found his niche as a coach in dinghy sailing, working with collegiate and youth development. There Camden was fortunate to be able to coach athletes on the national and world level.
During that period cycling was a relaxing pastime away from work where while coaching, he was also working as a theatrical rigging and lighting designer. However, in 2011 he realized he needed an outlet that was unrelated to his work and fell in love with racing road bikes.
After several years of hard work he managed to earn his Cat 2 ranking. That same spring, in 2016 an opportunity came up to relocate to Tennessee for work. There he met Cali, the best part of the journey back to Tennessee! Over the following years, thanks to the demands of work, cycling took a major backseat.
Then in 2023, a wonderful opportunity came up and Camden and Cali relocated to South Carolina. In SC after a seven-year hiatus from cycling, he was able to get back to it.
For the last three years he has worked to find his way back to competitive racing, now racing for Team Mack, a Masters Elite Cycling team. With Team Mack he races road disciplines with a focus on Road Races.
Recently, thanks to the encouragement of great friends, he has added a new love, Track Racing! There he has newfound joy for going in circles with no brakes, both in Mass Start events and especially Match Sprinting.
Camden’s Team Spotlight
A warm thank you to Team MACK and sponsors that continue to keep the dream alive.
