Gear
Camden brings 20+ years of cycling experience, while I bring a fresher perspective as a triathlete since 2018. Between the two of us, we’ve learned which gear earns its keep, and which gear doesn’t.
Here, we’re spotlighting the gear we actually use, love, and would recommend to a friend.
Cheers!

Quintana Roo V-PR
Why I love it:
After using my road bike for six years, I upgraded to my first tri-bike. Since this photo was taken, I’ve tweaked my bike, but the more I ride my tri-bike the more I love it. It is super fast and comfortable. It’s much stiffer compared to my road bike. Electronic shifting is amazing.
Worth Knowing:
I purchased the frame through Quintana Roo and built the bike up with a local bike shop.
FORM Smart Swim 2 Goggles
Why I love it:
I have a difficult time swimming with data, but I love that through the app I can customize only seeing the heads-up display after a turn and when at rest. I’m only focusing on heart rate data, and it is helpful to see this data after every turn. Surprisingly very comfortable- I’m very picky… I canceled my app subscription, and I just use the free data. I’m happy with the free plan. Nice that it tracks my swim for me with the auto feature and links to Training Peaks.
Worth Knowing:
This was a gift from Camden. I protested the idea of “fancy goggles”. It wasn’t until I was having trouble with controlling my heart rate while swimming during REDs recovery that prompted me to start using these. I needed more accuracy and more visibility to heart rate data. I started using these regularly. Now I love them.
The PEDAL Industry RaceDay Bag
Why I love it:
The ability to customize it with your name, plus the organization, makes this the perfect bag for all my running, cycling, and swim gear. It’s how I stay organized during a chaotic race morning, and sleep like a baby knowing all my gear is checked off the list.
Worth Knowing:
If you have a manufacture defect issue with the bag. PEDAL Industries offer an unlimited life-time warranty for manufacture defects when the bag is registered within 30 days of purchase. For example three years after owning, Camden’s bag developed a manufacture defect with the shoulder strap. We got it back, and you would never know there was problem.
ROKA Sunglasses
Why I love it:
I love how light weight they are. Like most athletes I sweat… that’s normal. These have grips along the temple tips and nose bridge so they stay in place while I do what I love. I focus on the joy of running or biking. No fogging either, and that’s important.
Worth Knowing:
The pair I wear is discontinued. If you are looking for the latest version looks like the SR-1x Sunglasses replaced mine.
